Our latest production, ‘The Women’s Centre’, had a sell-out run at Oxford House, Bethnal Green on 12-13 April 2023.

We are now mapping a local tour among community spaces for wider audiences who might not otherwise have access to theatre, and who we hope will feel seen and validated by the play.

The play is set within the course of a working day at a fictional Women's Centre in East London. It is a peek behind the curtain into the world of charity - through exploring the frictions and contradictions at play in the sector, it asks questions of who holds the power and whether it could be redistributed to benefit the whole system.

Most of all, it's an ode to sisterhood and the transformative power of community spaces filled with warmth and heart.

The Process

Our focus was on the process of making art, rather than the product. The performance was the completion of 11 weeks of coming together as women each Wednesday evening to empower one another and explore the artist within us - through a course of creative workshops featuring dance, music, yoga, poetry and play – alongside our rehearsals.

Audience Feedback

“The play was so uplifting – the sense of sisterhood and community that was created was inspiring to see… And the serious messages about power and the charity sector were interspersed with humour and humanity – we so enjoyed ourselves!”

“The play was fantastic. I thought the themes ranging from, motherhood, safety, domestic abuse, overworking, bureaucracy etc were amazingly handled. I think that ultimately the play managed to touch on a very difficult issue but provided a very hopeful and uplifting message.”

“I adore the way that by building a community of women to create the show, it feels that the team practiced what they preached.”

“What a success - many congratulations - the play is cleverly written, allowing for humour and yet raising serious and important questions around the provision of so called Help lost too often in translation of Process, box ticking and you know the rest!”
